
State police seek public’s help in weekend theft
Vermont State Police are asking for the public’s help with identifying a suspect in a theft at a downtown Waterbury restaurant on Saturday afternoon.

Flood recovery update | Weds. Oct. 25
The Federal Emergency Management Agency reminds Vermonters that the deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 31, to apply for assistance for those affected by summer flood damage. A free legal services clinic will be held Monday in Barre. And other local updates.

State police stop 13 drivers in three hours in Waterbury
Vermont State Police made 13 traffic stops in three hours this week during a detailed traffic patrol in Waterbury to find aggressive drivers, enforce traffic laws and promote safe driving.

Flood Recovery Update: Sat., Oct. 14
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended the registration deadline for FEMA assistance to Oct. 31 for Vermont residents affected by July’s severe storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides. In Waterbury, the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center closes permanently on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Road Work | Oct. 9-13
Monday is a holiday with work on most road and sidewalk projects halted for the day. In Waterbury, work will be ongoing however on the water line on Blush Hill in the vicinity of the Ashford Lane neighborhood.

Duxbury property tax payments due Friday

Road Work | Oct. 2-6
Main Street curb and sidewalk repairs have been completed with one final step remaining to seal new concrete in the areas where patches were made. Select Board sets Dec. 5 date for town charter vote
Waterbury voters will be asked to go to the polls for a special election on Tuesday, Dec. 5, to decide whether to create a town charter that would allow for new local taxes and clarify some of the municipal manager’s responsibilities.

Rescue team assists Camel’s Hump hiker down from the mountain
Last weekend, the Waterbury Backcountry Rescue Team was called out to Camel’s Hump where a 72-year-old hiker from New York had become stranded and unable to make it down the mountain without help.

Recent state police cases: grand larceny, drug/alcohol offenses, leaving the scene of an accident
Vermont State Police say they intercepted a juvenile from New Hampshire at an Interstate 89 rest area in Waterbury Wednesday morning who was responsible for stealing a commercial truck in New Hampshire and a trailer in Vermont.

Bike race takes to local roads this weekend
The Green Mountain Stage Race will be held Friday-Monday this weekend with multiple events from the Mad River Valley to Randolph to Burlington.
