UPDATE: Police identify second driver in fatal Rt. 100 crash

Following notification of next of kin, Vermont State Police have identified the second driver from a fatal crash on Rt. 100 in Warren on Aug. 14. That driver was Douglas Morrill, 61, of Granville, police said.
The investigation so far indicates that Morrill was driving north on Vermont Route 100 around a right-hand curve before the crash and was fully within his lane of travel. The other driver, Harley LaPlante, was driving southbound but was completely within the northbound lane, according to police.
The vehicles collided in the northbound lane and came to rest blocking Route 100, according to the updated information. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Police: Two drivers die in Rt. 100 crash in Warren on Monday

Vermont State Police are investigating a double-fatality crash in Warren on Monday night.
Trooper Tylor Rancourt from the Berlin barracks in a news release said the incident happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Vermont Route 100 near Leland Jones Road.
One driver was identified as Harley LaPlante, 37, of Warren. The name of the other driver, a 61-year-old man from Granville, was not immediately released pending notification of family, police said.
Police said both drivers were the only occupants of their vehicles and they both were pronounced dead at the scene. Both vehicles also were totaled. LaPlante was driving a 2020 Mazda M3 and the other driver was in a 2013 Ford Explorer, according to the police report.
