Vermont State Police made 13 traffic stops in three hours this week during a detailed traffic patrol in Waterbury to find aggressive drivers, enforce traffic laws and promote safe driving.

The patrol took place on Tuesday, Oct. 17, between 5 and 8 p.m. on Main Street and on Vermont Route 100 near Interstate 89, according to a report from Trooper Jacob Fox.

The two troopers involved stopped 13 vehicles. They issued six tickets and issued eight written warnings, police said.

Fox noted several noteworthy stops:

  • One driver had their vehicle towed for having registration plates not assigned to the vehicle and for not having insurance.

  • One driver was ticked for cell phone use.

  • One driver was issued a ticket for running a red light.

“The Vermont State Police would like to remind all motorists to drive responsibly, utilize a sober driver, leave a safe distance between vehicles, plan ahead, put their phones down and keep their heads up while driving,” the report concluded.
