Vermont State Police on Friday issued a press release asking for the public’s help in investigating a report of a stolen trailer from a home on Main Street in Waterbury.

Trooper Ryan Riegler said police received the report around 2 p.m. from Waterbury resident John Devereaux, 45, that his trailer had been stolen from his property.

Devereaux supplied police with a photo. Riegler said the items in the trailer in the photo were not reported stolen. The picture is intended to show the likeness of the trailer with the hope that someone might help locate it, Riegler said.

Two-car crash on Rt. 100 injures 3

A Wednesday morning two-car crash on Vermont Route 100 in Moretown sent three people to the hospital, two with life-threatening injuries, state police said.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. during heavy rain and the roadway had standing water on it, according to the state police press release by Trooper Ryan Reigler.

The investigation found that a 2012 Subaru Outback was headed southbound on Route 100 when it crossed the center line and hit the second vehicle, a 2011 BMW, head-on. The impact caused the Subaru to roll over, police said.

The crash happened near the intersection with Old Talc Mine Road, which is just south of the junction of Rts. 100 and 100B.

The driver of the Subaru was a 17-year-old male from Warren who was wearing a seatbelt, police said. The release did not list the young driver’s name.

The BMW was driven by Amanda Letourneau, 52, of Swanton. Both she and her passenger, 80-year-old Cheryl Messier, also of Swanton, were taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington “with life threatening injuries,” Trooper Riegler said. The report noted that they also had been wearing seatbelts.

Both vehicles were totaled, police said, noting that the crash is still under investigation.

A hospital spokesman at UVM on Friday said Messier was listed in critical condition. There was no information available regarding Letourneau’s status, he said. It was not clear whether she was in the hospital.

The Subaru driver was taken to Central Vermont Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Hospital officials could not comment on his status without a name to look up.

Moretown Fire Department and Mad River Valley Ambulance assisted state police.
