Work has begun to complete repairs on downtown sidewalks where utility poles were removed earlier this summer. Crews from Main Street reconstruction project contractor J.A. McDonald are in town this week with plans to pour concrete—when weather permits, according to Waterbury Public Works Director Bill Woodruff.

“Most of the disruption will be to pedestrian traffic and the occasional blockage of parking spaces,” he said. “Flaggers will be on site.”

Also this week, town highway crews will be working on the following, weather permitting, of course:

  • Late-night line-striping for crosswalks and the roundabout

  • Pouring sidewalk concrete across from Brookside Primary School

  • Road grading and roadside mowing throughout town

Crews hope to move on to paving on Little River Road and putting down the top layer of asphalt on Howard Avenue by late August, Woodruff said.
