There’s SNOW place like home
January finally settled in with enough cold to freeze the Waterbury Reservoir and enough snow for a few snow days both out of and in school. Gordon Miller captured some scenes last week before, during, and after some wintry weather.
Christmas tree bonfire | Jan. 14
Gordon Miller captured the scene as a small crowd of about 20 adults and kids turned out for the annual Christmas tree bonfire at Anderson Park recently. Town officials hope to have the outdoor ice rink at the park ready for skating soon. Links for info on other skating locations here, too.

Rotary hosts Santa in the Park
For the first time since 2019, the Waterbury Rotary Club hosted an in-person, out-of-your-cars visit with Santa at Rusty Parker Memorial Park last weekend.
River of Light 2022
It was “Marvelous Magic” indeed or something along those lines that intervened last Saturday for the 13th annual River of Light Lantern Parade.

The Children’s Room Barn Dance
The last time The Children’s Room hosted its annual Barn Dance was 2019. After a three-year hiatus, the popular fall event catering to families with babies and preschool-aged children returned to Beard’s Barn on Barnes Hill late last month with some 150 youngsters and their grownups.

Easter parade and egg hunt return
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a Waterbury Rotary Club springtime tradition returned to the village on Saturday with the Easter Bunny leading a parade to Pilgrim Park where scores of colored, candy-filled eggs awaited.
April 1: Winterfest Wassailing
With a wintry mix of wet snow and rain falling, six singing acts took part in Waterbury Winterfest's delayed Wassailing event outside the Prohibition Pig Brewery on Friday, April 1.
