The week of August 7 had a little bit of everything happening in town and near by.

No surprise, the rains continued, forcing the folks at Moose Meadow Lodge in Duxbury to turn to their rain location—the auditorium at Harwood Union Middle/High School for their third performance of Broadway in Vermont. Moose Meadow friend and Vermont native Merritt David Janes (who’s currently performing in the Original Broadway cast of “Back To The Future”) invited six Broadway actor-singer-musician friends to join him for a program singing favorite show tunes and sharing stories from the theater. An appreciative crowd turned out for the indoor performance given the soggy scene at the meadow on Crossett Hill. Gordon Miller was there. (See more about the performers on the Broadway in Vermont website.)

The weekend saw a whole slew of other visitors come through Waterbury, Stowe and Duxbury with the 66th annual Vermont Antique & Classic Car Meet and the 100-mile relay footrace, 100on100, (Stowe to Ludlow) both on Saturday, Aug. 12.

For a short time in the morning, runners and classic cars shared the road.

The vehicles ventured out from Farr’s Field for their event’s parade through town with many parking on Stowe Street for the evening block party where spectators strolled through to check out the cars.
