Giving Thanks 2022
In what’s becoming a Thanksgiving custom now that this is Waterbury Roundabout’s third (!) Thanksgiving online, we asked readers to write in to tell us what they are thankful for this year.
Commentary: Vermonters called for balance and we all need to listen
At 4 a.m. the day before every election, my team and I set out on a 14 County Tour, visiting all of Vermont’s 14 counties in one day.
Giving thanks 2022: What are you thankful for?
Thanksgiving is around the corner and that means it’s time for a feature we’ve done twice so far at this time of year — giving readers a chance to share what you are thankful for this year. We will post your submissions in a special Thanksgiving collection. We would especially love to hear from young people — students of all ages, from pre-K through college.
Wood: There is much work to do
I want to express my deep appreciation to the voters of Bolton, Buel's Gore, Huntington and Waterbury for your confidence in re-electing me to represent you in the Vermont Legislature for another two years.
Stevens: Thank you for your support
I would like to thank the voters in our Washington-Chittenden district — Waterbury, Huntington, Bolton and Buel's Gore — for supporting my candidacy as state representative again.
LETTER: Friends of Waterbury Reservoir invite all to annual meeting Nov. 16
The Friends of Waterbury Reservoir would like to invite the community to join us on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for our annual Friends of Waterbury Reservoir Meeting at SunCommon, 442 U.S. Route 2, Waterbury.
Tarrant: Letter post-Midterm Election '22
My fellow Vermonters, as I said to myself and others in recent weeks, regardless of outcome, I will continue in good faith to promote a better understanding as to what constitutes good government.
Re: Duxbury's Special Town Meeting Nov. 16
To the Duxbury Community: I am encouraging all to ask questions. I have gotten a few and have replied. I want to share those answers.
Candidate McGorry: ‘I will be for the People’
I will be for the People and the People's agenda and will not involve myself in any partisanship that we see in our present political environment.
Candidate Wood: ‘I carry the voices of all the people of this district’
While I hope that my long service to this community both at the State House and here at home has earned me your vote, the most important thing is that as citizens, people exercise their right to vote.
LETTER: Ben & Jerry’s pumpkin giveaway + food drive a smashing success
To the Community: Spooky Season is much less scary with friends like Ben & Jerry! The annual pumpkin giveaway benefitting the Waterbury Area Food Shelf was, once again, a smashing success!
Opinion: Echoes of the Holocaust are felt to this day
Next week we remember that on November 9-10, 1938, the Kristallnacht pogrom took place throughout Nazi Germany and its annexed countries.
Candidate Tarrant: ‘Our politicians are not listening to people like me’
I am running for the Vermont State Legislature because for years now, as a mother, a small/independent business owner, and as a tax-paying citizen, I feel our politicians are not listening to people like me.
LETTER: 51 S. Main – ‘We shouldn’t let this opportunity pass us by’
I encourage folks to vote yes to sell 51 S. Main to Downstreet Housing and Community Development, a responsible, non-profit builder that has committed to working with the public.
Op-Ed: Let’s talk about COVID mitigation in our schools
Community means being there for each other: particularly when times are tough, and especially for the sake of our most vulnerable members.
LETTER: Responding to objections raised about 51 S. Main Street proposal
To the Community: Todd Volitis's recent post on Front Porch Forum and the associated letter posted on Waterbury Roundabout contain some factual inaccuracies that should be highlighted.
OPINION: Vote no. Show up – Rock the vote Oct. 24
I have very strong opinions on this EFUD group and nothing comes to mind that is positive. I just want the same opportunity that was offered to the massive government-backed conglomerate (Downstreet Housing & Community Development) that has 2,500 units. I want the chance to talk with my neighbors.
LETTER: Rep. Wood ‘well-qualified’ and ‘cares deeply’
To the Community: I am writing to thank Theresa Wood for her persistent dedication representing us in the Vermont Legislature and to ask you to join me in voting for her to continue working at the Vermont State House on our behalf.
LETTER: Supporting state Rep. Theresa Wood for re-election
To the Community: Please join me in supporting incumbent Theresa Wood as our state representative in November. Rep. Wood is a longtime very active community member.
Waterbury Area Development Committee: Yes to Downstreet’s 51 S. Main proposal
Registered voters who are residents of the Edward Farrar Utility District will be asked whether to approve the sale of the 0.8-acre parcel at 51 South Main Street to Downstreet Housing & Community Development for $138,000.
