LETTER: Rep. Wood reminds voters of Vermont’s open primary

August 11, 2024

To the Community:

You DO NOT need to declare a party to vote! Vote now through Aug. 13.

I ask you to please cast one of your votes for me. You can get to know me by reading my bio online at  legislature.vermont.gov. Some details:

• Raised in Vermont and chose to live my adult life here.
• Extensive community service defines my approach to serving in the legislature.
• Appointed to the legislature to fill an unexpired term; been re-elected four4 times – served a total of nine years. Chair of the House Human Services Committee and a member of the Joint Fiscal Committee.
• Works to find common ground, to combine creative thinking and practical, pragmatic solutions for Vermont's issues.
• Former chair of local school board; successfully worked to improve education and facilities, value the workforce and keep promises to taxpayers to do it affordably.
• Always works "across the aisle" because differing opinions make for better solutions.

Why I want to continue to represent you at the State House:
• I hear you -- affordability is a key issue, particularly for property taxes. I agree and my experience and standing in the Legislature will serve you well in finding solutions.
• Climate change is real. Short-term solutions must be balanced with long term impacts. I'll fight for increasing attention to river corridor management, flood plain restoration, clean energy and direct assistance to Vermonters impacted by flooding.
• Affordable housing is critical to a Vermont that works for everyone. I've worked on solutions to create new housing, renovate existing housing and address homelessness. More work is needed, and I've proven I can deliver results.
• Affordable, high-quality childcare is critical to children, families, employers and Vermont's economy. I delivered a responsible childcare bill and it's beginning to work. I will continue to evaluate its effectiveness and make changes as necessary.

Vote for Theresa Wood – proven results, leadership, and care for the communities served.
