Scott D. Culver: ‘Time to roll up our sleeves and get to work’

February 13, 2021 | By Scott D. Culver

Editor’s note: Waterbury resident Scott Culver is running for a three-year term on the Waterbury Select Board in the Town Meeting Day election on March 2.

My name is Scott D. Culver, and I am running for positions on both the Waterbury Select Board as well as the HUUSD School Board. Sound ambitious? That’s me and that’s what you will receive.

I am a third-generation Waterbury resident, father of four, and a regular volunteer in many programs throughout the town as well as the state. I am a retired 30+ year employee of the state of Vermont and currently safety and compliance for a large local construction contractor. You may have even seen me working the register or deli at one of our local convenience stores on route 100!

I pride myself as being a hard-working Vermonter that has worked his way through the ranks to make a life for my wife of 30 years and our family, and pass down these skills and traits to our next generation.

Waterbury has seen lots of change in the last couple decades, from upgrades to village streets, upgrades of buildings such as the municipal offices, state complex, library, and fire stations. Businesses have been emerging here also, and our slogan of being the “recreational crossroads” has really put this into perspective.

Schools, taxes, consolidation, as well as diversity, are hot topics to name a few, not only in our community but in many throughout our state and country.  Placing my name on the ballot to me means an opportunity to serve you as a liaison to one or both positions, lend an ear to discuss topics, as well as be a strong voice of reason with the input I receive.

My philosophy is that it takes communication, teamwork, and understanding to create a community that prospers. Time to roll up our sleeves and get to work.

Thank you,

Scott D. Culver
