Local news = local connections

This has been probably the busiest week our little website has seen in just over three years covering local news in and around Waterbury. Like some weeks during the pandemic, this has been a tough string of days for many of our neighbors and friends.

It's a relief to see everyone has stayed safe and people are coming out in droves to help those in the flood-affected neighborhoods.

We're also happy to see so many people turning to our local online newspaper for reliable information. We saw a groundswell from people both sending us information and photos and landing on our website and Facebook page looking for that information and those photos. Many thanks to everyone for contributing to and relying on our work.

We feel strongly about our coverage being free of charge to read, but we do that on the hope that readers value it enough to chip in to help pay the people producing it and our relatively low overhead.

Recently we switched to a new webpage to manage contributions so we can channel more of your support to actual news gathering rather than fees. If you haven't done so yet, we ask donors to please visit the new page to enter your information (we don't have your bank info to “move” your regular contributions).

If you are not a donor, there couldn’t be a better time to become one. Please help us keep local news coming to you each week. Just $5/month would help us get closer to making the Roundabout sustainable.

If you have a business or are with an organization, consider sponsoring our This Week in Waterbury email newsletters, or placing a job listing or a website ad. (Sign up on our homepage for the emails. Contact us at waterburyroundabout@gmail.com for sponsor spots, website ads, job listings)

Waterbury Roundabout started as a way to keep the community connected during the pandemic. We like being part of our connected community. With your support, we can continue making these connections each week.

Thank you for reading and supporting local news!
