State police seek suspect in Middlesex stabbing

Vermont State Police hope the public can help locate a suspect in a stabbing incident that happened at the Middlesex Park and Ride lot on Friday, June 28.

According to a news release today from Detective Sgt. Mathew Nadeau, investigators are looking for 39-year-old Shannon Edwards from Montpelier. Edwards is described as a white male, 5’7” tall with short brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a tattoo of a scorpion on his left forearm and a tribal tattoo in the area of his right shoulder and neck, according to police.

A warrant was issued for Edwards’ arrest was issued listing charges of assault and robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, larceny from a person, and reckless endangerment, police said.

The incident in question took place on the afternoon of June 28. Police said they received a report of a stabbing at the Middlesex Park and Ride at about 2:40 p.m. An investigation by state police detectives found that a confrontation between two men happened inside a vehicle, during which one of the men was stabbed in the abdomen with a box-cutter-style knife, the police report said. Afterward, the suspect stole money from the victim and fled. The victim was treated and released from Central Vermont Medical Center on the same day, police noted.

Information gathered during the investigation resulted in Edwards being sought as the suspect in the case and efforts to locate him so far have been unsuccessful, police said.
