Town officials are asking the public for help to identify the source of a large pile of construction debris illegally dumped on town property near the Ice Center in downtown Waterbury.

Over the weekend a town employee spotted the material, according to Public Works Director Bill Woodruff.

“This refuse consisted of mainly old white vinyl siding as well as other construction debris,” Woodruff said.

The used siding pieces are white and likely removed from a building. New pieces in the load are blue and a packaging label in the debris has the name “Pacific Blue” as the color, Woodruff noted, sharing a photo.

Given the size and shape of the pile, Woodruff speculated that it was dumped using a trailer.

It was left in a materials storage area that the Public Works Department uses for gravel and other items used on road projects.

The incident has been reported to the Vermont State Police. Anyone with information that could help investigators identify the source of the material is asked to contact the Waterbury town office at 802-244-7033 or the Vermont State Police barracks in Berlin at 802-229-9191.
