Vermont State Police say they hope someone might come forward with information about a crash on Vermont Route 100 in Waterbury Center Thursday morning where the vehicle that caused the mishap fled the scene.
Trooper Mae Murdock said the incident took place at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the traffic light at the intersection of Route 100 and Guptil Road. The road was snow-covered and it was snowing at the time, Murdock noted in a news release.
Samuel Huff, 53, of Lowell, Vermont, was driving a silver 2017 Toyota RAV4 southbound on Rt. 100 when he stopped at the red light at the Guptil Road intersection. Huff told troopers that a dark-colored mid-size SUV behind him rear-ended his vehicle. The other driver did not stop, but instead left the scene continuing south on Route 100, police said.
Huff told police that there were several other uninvolved vehicles present at the intersection when this happened. His vehicle sustained rear-end damage and he was not injured, police noted.
Anyone who may have observed a silver RAV4 driving south on Route 100 with a dark-colored SUV following behind, or anyone who witnessed the crash, is encouraged to contact Trooper Murdock at the Berlin barracks at 802-229-9191. Anonymous tips may be provided online at vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.
