Vermont State Police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate two recent incidents they believe are related involving thefts from construction contractor sites in Waterbury and Middlesex.

Reports were made on Monday to troopers at the Middlesex barracks about equipment missing from J.A. McDonald’s project management headquarters at 158 South Main Street in Waterbury and a construction site on Center Road in Middlesex adjacent to Kingsbury’s new business offices, according to Trooper Isaac Merriam.

Missing from the Waterbury location were two generators, a hand-held air compressor and two six-inch sewer test balls. Together the items are valued at $5,253.35 and that incident would be considered grand larceny, Merriam said.

The Waterbury site is McDonald’s field office for the ongoing Main Street construction project to rebuild the street and sidewalks, replace water and sewer lines, and bury overhead utility lines.

Merriam said the investigation so far has estimated that the Waterbury theft likely occurred the night of July 4.

The other incident was a burglary that occurred last weekend sometime between July 10-13, Merriam said, at a building under construction beside Kingsbury’s new headquarters at 58 Center Road in Middlesex.

A large assortment of tools were stolen including batteries, chargers, impact guns, drills, saws and grinders. The items missing from the Kingsbury site were valued at $4,400, Merriam said.

Here are lists of the specific items stolen.

From J.A. McDonald Inc. in Waterbury: 6,500 watt Honda generator, 5,500 watt Yamaha generator, electric hand-held air compressor, two 6-inch sewer test balls.

From Kingsbury:  Dewalt batteries (3), Dewalt chargers (3), Dewalt cordless grinder, Dewalt corded 7-inch grinder, Dewalt impact guns (2), K760 Husqvarna chop saw, Klein meter, Milwaukee bandsaw, Milwaukee batteries (4), Milwaukee chargers (3), Milwaukee concrete drill (Hilti), Milwaukee fan, Milwaukee impact gun, Milwaukee drill, and power shears.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the stolen items and solving these crimes. Anyone with information about these thefts should call the Middlesex State Police barracks at 229-9191.
