Locals appointed to state boards, commissions

MONTPELIER – Gov. Phil Scott announced last week appointments of 168 Vermonters to state boards and commissions since Jan. 1.

Boards and commissions are part of the function of state government and they give Vermonters opportunities to serve their state and communities. The governor’s office is currently soliciting applications to fill vacancies and upcoming term expirations. Anyone interested in serving on a board or commission should visit the governor’s website to apply.

Local residents appointed recently are: Kate Finley-Woodruff of Duxbury to the Future of Vermont Agriculture Commission; Dorinne Dorfman of Waterbury to the Children and Family Council Prevention Programs; Christopher Younce of Waterbury to the Statewide Independent Living Council. 

Gayle Buchard of Stowe was added to the Board of Land Surveyors; Bernice Sarafzadeh of Stowe was named to the Governor’s Workforce Equity & Diversity Council; 

Tim Hayward of Middlesex was appointed to both the Judicial Nominating Board and the Transportation Board; Javad Mashkuri of Middlesex was appointed to the Clinical Drug Utilization Board; Peter Hood of Middlesex was appointed to the New Motor Vehicle Arbitration Board. 

Joslyn Wilschek of Montpelier and Norma Malone of Barre were named to the District No. 5 Environmental Commission which reviews Act 250 applications for Washington County.
