January 21, 2025
In the early morning of Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Susan Demers, age 58, passed away after a six-year battle with frontotemporal dementia (also known as “the long goodbye”). Susan was the youngest of 10 children born September 13, 1966 to Willard and Pauline Demers.
Susan graduated from Montpelier High School and married Christopher Wright with whom she had two children, Christopher and Jamie. They divorced and Susan later married Richard Delphia, now divorced. Susan worked most of her adult life at Glassworks in Waterbury, Vermont.
Susan had a vivacious personality. She loved reading, music and dancing, and made the best chocolate chip cookies. She loved deeply and will be missed greatly by her many friends and family. She loved to volunteer in her community, having worked over the years with Prevent Child Abuse Vermont, the Waterbury Area Senior Center, the Battered Women's Shelter, and the Humane Society.
Susan is preceded in death by her mother, father, and eldest sister Rena. She is survived by her son Christopher, daughter Jamie, son-in-law Raymond, her grandchildren Carter, Elizabeth, Ignatius, Gabriella, and Gemma; as well as her siblings Phillip, Irene, Roy, Laurie, Judy, Sharon, Karen, and Paul and their spouses and children.
A special thank you is extended to those who offered care and support to Susan during her battle with this awful disease.
A memorial service will be held in the spring with family and friends. Details will be made available once arrangements have been made.
In lieu of flowers or cards, her children ask that a financial gift be made in honor of Susan. Please reach out to her children to do so (cwright1219@aol.com). These donations will be used to benefit others in need. Her children will fund individuals directly with gifts and support. Direct funding ensures every penny goes directly towards benefitting a deserving person.
Arrangements are in the care of Champlain Cremation in South Burlington. Online condolence messages may be made here.
