Lawn sale season in full swing

It’s fall yard-sale, tag-sale, craft-sale season and several community organizations and churches have events in the works. Some gather up donated items and set them out to find new homes and raise some needed funds along the way. Others feature handmade baked goods, crafts and items for holiday gift-giving. Here are details on a few announced so far.

  • The annual Fall Lawn Sale returns this weekend at Wesley United Methodist Church at 56 South Main St. The sale raises funds to support the church and features an eclectic mix of household items, children's gear, and more donated by local residents. The sale is scheduled to be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Items for sale will be set up under the tent on the front lawn and inside the church dining room. Donations are welcome. 

  • The Congregational Church/White Meeting House at 8 North Main St. adds its Tag Sale this weekend Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1-2. Rain or shine the sale is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days to support the church and its various projects.

  • Wesley United Methodist Church hosts a Fall Craft and Vendor Sale Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 56 South Main St. Honey, maple, clothing for all ages, soaps, Tupperware and more. Lunch will be served with mac and cheese, hot dogs, drinks and baked goods.

  • The Children’s Room’s annual Tag Sale and fundraiser will be held Friday, Oct. 15, 3-6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 16, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 56 South Main St. The sale features gently used kids (ages 0-8) clothing and gear, toys, books, Halloween costumes, and maternity items. Donations will be collected at the church 10 a.m. to noon and 2:30-5:30 on Tuesday-Wednesday, Oct. 12-13; also on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2:30-6:30 p.m. More details are online on The Children’s Room Facebook page. 

  • Queen Esther #7, Order of the Eastern Star, hosts a sale to benefit the Waterbury Area Senior Center on 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the senior center, 14 Stowe St. The event will include a variety of crafters including jewelry designers, pottery and hand-made wreaths. Baked good will feature pies and cookies, breads, baked beans and more. Vendors will include representatives with Tupperware, Pampered Chef, and Color Street Nails. Enter to win a raffle with gift items or a 50/50. Admission is free.
