Spring turkey season starts in May, and there’s time for experienced hunters to learn some helpful tips, and for beginners to prepare for their first turkey season.

This seminar will include presenters who are Vermont turkey hunters, certified Hunter Education Instructors, and National Wild Turkey Federation instructors.

The workshop will cover topics from basic turkey biology, scouting and turkey calling, to needed hunting gear, safe turkey hunting practices, laws and ethics, and shotgun patterning (if time permits).

The session is free but registration is required. It’s open to anyone interested in sharpening their spring turkey-hunting skills, or those learning to turkey hunt for the first time. All ages, abilities, etc. are welcome. Refreshments will be provided.

The seminar will be held Thursday, April 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. The game club is located at 5365 Waterbury-Stowe Road (Vermont Rt. 100) in Waterbury.

As of Sunday evening, there were seven spots open, according to the state's online signup page. (Anyone signed up who cannot make it is asked to cancel their reservation to open their spot for someone else.)
