TURNmusic marks milestone with a music festival and auction

To mark its 10th anniversary, TURNmusic will launch a new music festival Friday-Saturday, July 19-20 at The Phoenix Gallery and Music Hall on Stowe Street. 

TURNing10! will showcase a variety of performers and music writers from the region: Lovecraft, Willverine, Jane Boxall, Toussaint St. Negritude, Elizabeth Reid, Mary Rowell, Jo Bled, Katie Semro, Anne Decker, Hilary Goldblatt, Ras Burnett, Matt LaRocca, Emily Laxner abd Keith Gibson. Stefanie Weigand plays music of Music-COMP students and Callum Robechek curates TURNyouth “Open Stage” with special guests. 

“Our TURNing10! Music Festival lineup will represent our year-round programming in two days,” said TURNmusic Executive Director Anne Decker. 

Founded in 2014, TURNmusic supports innovative, living music creators and celebrates their craft. Decker explains. “From chamber music and improvisation to jazz, electronics and more, our concerts are built with a commitment to representation, diversity and originality. We host dozens of performances each season at The Phoenix Gallery and Music Hall in historic downtown Waterbury.”

In addition, TURNmusic hosts three outdoor performances in its “Music in the Alley” summer concert series in the alley beside The Phoenix along with co-sponsor Blackback Pub. 

Now with its home base at The Phoenix, TURNmusic aims to contribute to the music cultural vibrancy in Central Vermont, serving as a hub for new music and supporting equity among music creators and growing inclusive audiences.

Admission is free to all performances. The schedule is: 

Friday, July 19 

  • 6-9 p.m. Music in the Alley featuring Lovecraft 

  • 9-11 p.m. Late night set in The Phoenix by Willverine 


Saturday, July 20 

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Performances at The Phoenix  

  • 5-7 p.m. TURNyouth Open Stage

In addition to the performances, TURNmusic is hosting an online silent auction to support the 2024-2025 season. The auction includes items worth over $4,500 including food, art, music, books and experiences. Bidding closes on July 20 at 7 p.m.
