Harwood XC Fun Runs move to Crossett Brook Middle School
July 16, 2024 | By Waterbury Roundabout
Harwood Union High School Cross Country team’s Summer Fun Runs have been moved from Harwood High School to Crossett Brook Middle School starting this Wednesday, July 24.
“This move allows the Harwood trails to dry out and gives our facilities team time to make some trail repairs prior to the start of the season,” said Assistant XC Coach Tom Cahalan in making the announcement. “We are grateful for the support of the administration and staff at CBMS to make this happen.”
Setting up a course at Crossett Brook will mean working around flood-damaged trails on that campus. “We are going to lay out a new route using the trails on the rolling hills and flat areas around the fields,” Cahalan told Waterbury Roundabout. “We have paint to mark the route and signs, so we will mark our own [race] trail. We are laying it out on Monday.”
When the runs start up on July 24, the time and format for the weekly events remain the same as previously announced: Registration at 6 p.m.; races starting at 6:30 p.m. with the kids race, followed by the 3K/5K.
Runs will be held each Wednesday, weather permitting, through Aug. 21.
The entry fee is $5. No charge for Harwood runners and kids under age 7.
