Oh January, you had to go and set a new record, but you couldn’t pick snowiest or sunniest.

No, you nailed “cloudiest” pretty solidly.

Meteorologists crunched the weather data and they confirmed that January 2024 was the cloudiest on record, at least in the Champlain Valley. It wasn’t much different on this side of the Green Mountains, either.

The team at WPTZ Channel 5 calculated 29 of 31 days in January were cloudy. Here’s their report to check it out.

Here in Waterbury, Gordon Miller captured at least 29 shades of January gray around town.
