Ben Clark: Seeking Moretown’s open school board seat

Hello fellow community members!

For those who don't know me, my name is Ben Clark and I am a proud father of three. I’d say five, but my wife said the dogs don’t count and that I shouldn’t be making jokes in a bio. In all seriousness and humility, I’m running for the open Moretown seat on the Harwood Unified Union School District School Board and asking for your support.

I moved to Vermont in 2008 looking to come back home to this state after graduating from high school in the mid-1990s.  I have likely seen or met many of you around town, on the sidelines or at school events.

I am grateful to those who have served on the school board already. The leadership during these last few years has been steady and compassionate. They have had to consider how to keep school running in a pandemic and make sure our children were given the best opportunities available. To them, I am thankful.

Like you, I’m a taxpayer who cares about having enough to meet my obligations. Like you, I care that our kids get the highest quality education they can receive. The balance of those two things are important to me; I hope to be in service of that for you.

As a new board member, I will plan to listen more than I speak and take the considerations of those in my community as a part of my process in decision making. It is my hope that with help and guidance, I can be your representative in this time of cultural renewal.

Thank you for this chance in letting me introduce myself to you, and I hope to be a listening ear in your hopes for our greater Harwood community.
