To the Community:

“You’re Fired,” “You work for us,” and “This is your pink slip” were the leading messages of the day on postcards written for President Trump.

Over 30 members of Indivisible Mad River Valley gathered at Lawson’s Finest Liquids in Waitsfield on March 12 to participate in the March 15th “IdesofTrump” mail-in effort which is a national, grassroots action to make it clear to Trump that we stand up against the cruel, illegal and harmful actions of his administration. After just one hour, the group completed some 200 postcards that were ready to be mailed.

In addition to writing critical messages to President Trump, volunteers wrote messages of support to many others, including businesses like Mad River Glen and the Village Grocery that supported (with humor) the protest of Vice President JD Vance’s recent visit to the Mad River Valley. Cards were sent to Sugarbush staffer Lucy Welch who shared her message of dissent in her snow report during Vance’s visit and to her employer for not firing her for that action.

Others were sent to Maine Gov. Janet Mills thanking her for standing up to keep federal funding for programs, to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy via the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington, D.C., in support of his fight for democracy for his country and his handling with grace and dignity the “ambush” of recent criticism by Trump and Vance.

To members of Vermont’s Congressional delegation, volunteers wrote messages thanking Sen. Bernie Sanders for his speech about the real state of the union and holding town halls in red states; they thanked Sen. Peter Welch and Rep. Becca Balint for speaking out to defend Americans’ and Vermonters’ rights and for calling out Republicans who do not.

Notes also were written to Congressman Al Green, D-TX, for protesting to defend Medicare during President Trump’s speech for which he was removed and censored, and to Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., who gave the Democratic response to Trump’s State of the Union speech.

Indivisible Mad River Valley will continue to take actions to defend our democracy and freedoms, to resist the extremist MAGA agenda and to defeat the rising fascism in America. Learn more at indivisiblemrv.org.
