LETTER: Hannah’s House sponsors free online parenting series

January 20, 2025

To the Community:

The nonprofit organization Hannah's House provides mental health care and support throughout the Harwood Unified Union School District. It is offering a free parenting class held via Zoom over a series of Wednesdays starting on Jan. 29.

Conscious Parenting’s “New Year, New Tools” series will involve four weekly Zoom sessions. Suzy Blais of Green Mountain Conscious Parenting will cover topics to help shift the family dynamic. Some key themes include: New Coping Strategies, Emotional Regulation/Intelligence, Identifying Core Beliefs, and Reparenting.

Conscious Parenting encourages clear, consistent boundaries to help every family member feel safe. Another focus is gaining the ability to hold space for big emotions which for some of us can be very difficult because it was not modeled for us in childhood. Big feelings were often not allowed. We will learn how to do this together if it was not modeled for us as children.

This series aims to help participants increase their emotional intelligence, build a self-regulation toolbox, and acquire new coping skills as they deal with the children in their lives.

Attending all four classes will provide the most information, however, each session will provide unique tools. The small group format allows for more customized sessions in which participants can share parenting challenges. Having access to a certified conscious parenting professional has been helpful for many previous attendees.

This free series is designed for parents of children of all ages as well as grandparents, teachers, coaches and caregivers of children. The sessions will be held 7-8 p.m. on Jan. 29 and Feb. 5, 12 and 19.
