Look close to home for Giving Tuesday
November 27, 2024 | By Lisa Scagliotti
It’s no secret that the final weeks of the year loom large for most nonprofits as a key time to replenish financial reserves. Organizations large and small who rely on their supporters announce their reminders of good work done in recent months and plans for the year ahead to continue their missions.
As 2024 winds down, we hope that our readers and community members will consider the many organizations in and around Waterbury that are deserving of their charitable contributions this year and always. We also hope you will spare some giving dollars to support local journalism.
Here are some of the many nonprofits whose work contributes to our community that you might consider supporting this Giving Tuesday, Dec. 2, and in general with your year-end donations.
Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF)
Friends of the Waterbury Public Library
Friends of the Waterbury Reservoir
Green Mountain Performing Arts
Hunger Mountain Children’s Center
Waterbury Area Anti-Racism Coalition
Waterbury Area Good Neighbor Fund
Waterbury Area Trails Alliance
This list surely is not complete. If there’s a nonprofit you’d like to suggest, pop a note in the comment box below.
Don’t forget local news!
Of course, we hope you will consider supporting Waterbury Roundabout before 2024 ends, and this year there’s an especially good reason to do so now.
For the first time, we are participating in the NewsMatch program and we are eager to make our readers’ support go twice as far.
Donations of up to $1,000 made online on our website or by check will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to a total of $15,000. A special feature: NewsMatch will kick in extra to match new monthly contributions. If you’ve been waiting to do so, sign up to give monthly now and NewsMatch will match with a donation equal to 12 months worth. (Example: A $10 monthly contribution will be matched with $120.)
Visit our Donate page to contribute using a credit card. Instructions are there on how to donate by check as well. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send us a note at WaterburyRoundabout@gmail.com.
Thank you for supporting the Roundabout and the many other valuable groups and organizations that make the Waterbury community a great place to live and work and play.
