LETTER: Friends, co-workers rally for market worker facing family illness

Oct. 1, 2022

To the community:

Hello all, Brittany and John here. Our community is so strong. We’ve seen the support and love that Waterbury has to offer. We are reaching out because a member of our community needs our help!

Jen, our local Village Market lady, is in need. Her 18-year-old daughter, Dakota, has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Jen is a single mom and doing her best! Gas prices, wigs, food, the stress, the love, and it all… it’s so much!

A friend has begun a GoFundMe account to assist. Find that online at gofund.me/6770cf31.

At Park Row Cafe, we are accepting donations of needed items for as long as necessary. Anything is welcome from the lists below.

In addition, they do not own a washing machine or dryer and use the local laundromat. (Roughly $10 to wash and dry one load.) So, quarters are accepted and appreciated!

If you are able to donate, please do so. Regardless, please share this post.

Items needed:

paper towels

toilet paper (Scott, normal, thin)

dish soap

hand soap

Tide pods & Bounce sheets

grocery gift cards

gas gift cards!

PlayStation cards

dog food - Purina Beyond, chicken and barley

Poland Springs water- jugs or single bottles

household cleaning products

masks!! (Lots of appointments)

hard candies

Tylenol and Advil/ibuprofen

baby wipes

candles

For hospital kits for Dakota:

shampoo and conditioner

body soap/wash

lotion - Johnson’s or Aveeno (sensitive skin)

deodorant

face wipes /baby wipes

masks

With all of this, Jen is spending $50 every two days on gas to bring Dakota to appointments. She is unable to work, as a single mom who needs to take care of her daughter. Obviously, the same with Dakota, she is unable to work.

Let’s goooooo Waterbury! Share and share until your hearts burst!

We got this!
