CVMC president urges vigilance to control COVID cases in Central Vermont

To the Community:
Last year at this time, none of us could have imagined we would face a global pandemic in 2020. During the last 10 months, we have all come together to face incredible challenges.
On Wednesday, Dec. 16, we administered our first COVID vaccine to CVMC Emergency Department Nurse Alex Low, RN. Using the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Vermont Department of Health, we are vaccinating health care workers with a high risk of exposure to COVID patients anOVID-19 patients, we are equally committed to supporting its prevention through the distribution of vaccines. This is a critical step in our path to regain normalcy, and marks what we hope to be the beginning of the end of this pandemic.
We do not yet know when the vaccine will be available to the general public. As we have more information regarding vaccinations we will share that with you.
As a result of your continued observance of safety guidelines, it appears as though we successfully curbed a surge in Central Vermont following the Thanksgiving holiday. Your continued vigilance remains critical as we bring 2020 to a close. I am once again looking for your support in slowing the spread of COVID-19 by asking you to:
Observe the state masking requirement and restrictions on travel.
Limit celebratory gatherings to one other “trusted” household.
Maintain six-foot social distance from others.
Clean your hands often by washing with soap and water or by using hand sanitizer.
We are incredibly grateful for all the support you’ve given us over these past 10 months. Please remember that as you and your loved ones continue to deal with all aspects of the pandemic, CVMC is here to support your health and wellness.
I wish you and yours a safe, healthy and happy new year.
