LETTER: Waterbury LEAP hosts Button Up workshop Nov. 13

November 5, 2021 | By Alayna Howard

To the Community:

The first true cold snap of fall is upon us and there is snow in the mountains. Winter is coming, and now is the time to think about how to save energy, money, and the planet during the heating season.

The Waterbury Local Energy Action Partnership (LEAP) is here to help, because we are a part of the annual Button Up Vermont campaign, which works each fall to raise awareness of the need to weatherize.

We’re hosting a weatherization presentation with Becca White of Efficiency Vermont on Saturday, November 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Steele Community Room at the municipal offices. Join us for free donuts, cider, and information about small and big steps you can take to outsmart winter and make your home more comfortable for the season. (We’ll ask folks to maintain social distancing and require masks when attendees are not eating or drinking.)

Here are some other actions you can take:

  • Get $100 back for completing three qualifying DIY weatherization projects

  • Up to $3,000 off comprehensive weatherization projects, and financing options starting at 0% interest

  • Qualify for free whole home weatherization services with income eligibility

  • Up to $650 off ductless heat pumps

Visit buttonupvermont.org to learn more and participate!
