COMMENTARY: House GOP leader comments on election
November 12, 2024 | By Rep. Pattie McCoy
Vermont Republicans campaigned on affordability for Vermonters and more balance in the Legislature.
Vermonters delivered.
Vermont Republicans made historic gains in both the House and Senate Legislature. Gaining 18 seats in the House and six seats in the Senate gives Gov. Scott the ability for the Legislature to sustain a veto.
While we are excited to go back to Montpelier with more Republicans, we must remember we are still in the minority. We look to the majority to bring us back to the table to reach consensus. We look to the majority to be willing to work with the governor in order to reach consensus. We are ready, willing and able to work together to make Vermont more affordable, to grow our economy, and to protect the most vulnerable. Vermonters deserve nothing less.
Let’s roll up our sleeves, and together, get to work!
