Waterbury man charged with third DUI after exiting I-89
A Waterbury man was charged with a third Driving Under the Influence offense after a traffic stop Tuesday evening.
According to a state police news release, troopers from the Middlesex barracks were on routine patrol at 9:35 p.m. when Timothy S. Chicoine, 54, exited Interstate 89 in Waterbury.
Police said they checked DMV records on Chicoine’s 1996 Ford green van and found that he had a criminally suspended driver’s license. Police stopped the van at the traffic circle intersection of Vermont Route 100 and U.S. Route 2 and said they determined that Chicoine was under the influence of alcohol.
Chicoine was arrested, taken to the Middlesex barracks, and was released with a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court Criminal Division on July 2 to answer to the charges of Driving License Suspended and Driving Under the Influence third offense, police said.
State police charge Stowe man driving the wrong way on I-89 in Waterbury
Vermont State Police stopped and arrested a 21-year-old driver from Stowe who was driving the wrong way on Interstate 89 between Richmond and Waterbury early Saturday morning.
Police said they received multiple calls about a wrong-way driver on the highway traveling south in the northbound lane.
Troopers from the Middlesex barracks caught up with Emmett J. O’Connell, 21, of Stowe at 2:34 a.m. at mile marker 63 in Waterbury, according to a state police news release.
Police said O’Connell was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and marijuana when he was arrested. He faces charges of Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Endangerment, Gross Negligent Operation, and Attempting to Elude a Police Officer. O’Connell was scheduled to appear in Washington County Superior Court to answer to the charges on May 26.
Broken flower pots lead to unlawful mischief charge for Waterbury man
State police have charged a Waterbury man with unlawful mischief after investigating a vandalism incident that resulted in broken flower pots.
State police were called to a home on North Main Street in Waterbury around noon on May 21 to check out a report of vandalism, according to a police news release.
The investigation revealed that an argument had taken place between Jeffrey Smith, 51, and Nicholas Wilson, 24, both of Waterbury. Police said that following the argument, Smith kicked and broke flower pots belonging to Wilson.
Smith was located and issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court - Criminal Division on July 23 to answer to the charge of Unlawful Mischief
