Wanted: Volunteers to fill openings on town boards and commissions

The Waterbury Select Board is seeking volunteers to serve on a number of boards, committees and commissions with the goal of making appointments in mid-April.
Appointments that expire in 2024 end April 30 and the Select Board would like to name people to the positions at its April 15 meeting for them to start their service by May 1.
The town has an application form for interested individuals to complete with information about their background and qualifications and the position or positions they are applying for.
There are openings on the following boards, commissions and committees:
Development Review Board: Members serve for three years. Three seats are open – one regular position and two alternates. The board meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.
Conservation Commission: Members are appointed to serve for four years. Four seats are open – two full terms; one year on an unexpired term ending in 2025; and one seat with two years remaining on a term, ending in 2026. The commission meets on the second Tuesday of the month.
Natural Disaster Preparedness Committee: This is a newly formed committee with one opening. Appointment is for a three-year term. The committee will meet on the first Tuesday of the month.
Planning Commission: Members serve three-year terms. There are two positions open. The commission meets on the second and fourth Mondays of the month.
Recreation Committee: Members are appointed to serve three-year terms. There are three full terms open and on seat with one year remaining, ending in 2025. The committee meets on the second Thursday of the month.
Tree Board: Members serve three-year terms. There are two openings. The board meets monthly.CVFiber is the Central Vermont communications union district that involves 20 communities including Waterbury. Its mission is to build internet infrastructure in the region. Each town has a member on the CVFiber board and one or two alternates, all appointed by the municipality’s select board or city council. Waterbury currently needs an alternate(s).

Interested individuals should complete this online application and return it to Town Clerk Karen Petrovic by Thursday, April 11. The Select Board is looking to make as many appointments as possible at its meeting on Monday, April 15.
