A search is underway in Waterbury Center tonight for a woman who went missing this afternoon from her home on Barnes Hill.
Vermont State Police are asking the public for any information on whether anyone has seen Rachel Laundon, 44, who went missing from her home on Barnes Hill Road shortly before 5 p.m.
Laudon was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, multi-colored pants, and was barefoot, Trooper Tylor Rancourt said in a news release.
She was last seen in a wooded area northeast of the intersection of Barnes Hill Rd and Mountainview Drive, he said.
Reached just after 9 p.m., Rancourt said a search was happening way and additional searchers were not requested at this time.
“We have several resources in the area and the search is ongoing,” Rancourt said in an email reply to Waterbury Roundabout. “There is no foul play suspected. However, we are concerned for her welfare.”
Rancourt said Laundon may have two brown-and-white springer spaniels with her. It was not clear whether she was headed to a particular location.
“It is believed she is lost in the woods at this point,” he said.
Should anyone make contact with Laundon, they are encouraged to contact Trooper Rancourt through the Berlin barracks at 802-229-9191.
Laundon is an artist known for her brightly colored, multi-media, painted fish sculptures. She currently has an exhibition that opened on Saturday at the NEK Artisans Guild in St. Johnsbury.
