Road Work | Oct. 10-14

Waterbury

  • Major construction work gets underway on Tuesday, Oct. 11, on Reservoir Road at the entrance to the Waterbury Center Day Use State Park. The park’s final day to be open for the season is Monday, Oct. 10. On Tuesday, excavation will begin and the road will be closed to both vehicles and pedestrians. The closure is expected to last all week. The project will rebuild the eroding roadway and the adjacent drainage ditch and guardrail.

  • Motorists are asked to be alert on Vermont Route 100 in the Colbyville stretch near the intersections with Cross Road and Laurel Lane. A sewer line will be installed this week in the shoulder section between the Colby Mansion and Mad River Cabinet Design.

  • Elsewhere in town, line-striping on several local roads is still anticipated this season including Stowe Street and sections of Perry Hill Road and Guptil Road.

  • Construction work has begun near the end of Blush Hill Road on a new parking lot just above the boat launch to accommodate parking of vehicles with trailers. The boat launch is open but there will be construction vehicles, equipment, etc. active in that area until the beginning of November. Flaggers will be on site and roadside parking will be limited on weekdays. Work will take place weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. People are encouraged to use the Waterbury Dam boat launch during this period to reduce congestion at the Blush Hill launch.

Interstate 89 Richmond

The large culvert repair project continues just south of Exit 11 in Richmond. Motorists will encounter a one-mile-long lane closure in both travel directions as southbound traffic is merged to the northbound lane using a crossover.

A “zipper merge” traffic pattern is now in place where drivers are advised to use both lanes until they reach the merge point and then take turns merging into the single lane of traffic, like a zipper closing.

Crews have begun building the culvert stream bed to get the stream flowing into the new concrete box culvert and will soon begin backfilling. Work hours are 24 hours a day, six days a week.

U. S. 2 in Richmond–Bolton

Resurfacing continues and motorists will encounter unpaved roadway along with sections of one-way alternating traffic during daytime construction hours between Cochran Road and Snipe Ireland Road. From Monday through Thursday this week, one-way alternating traffic will be in place at night between Bridge Street and Lemroy Court.
