Oct. 8, 2022 | By Lisa Scagliotti

A series of 10 online forums for candidates in the upcoming Nov. 8 election will include the state House district representing Waterbury and the Washington County Senate district.

ORCA Media and The Bridge newspaper in Montpelier are presenting the forums which began last week with House candidates vying to represent Montpelier and Barre City.

The list includes forums with candidates for several House districts along with forums with candidates for governor, lieutenant governor and secretary of state.

On Monday, candidates for the Washington-1 Senate district will be featured starting at 7:30 p.m. Under the redistricting that happened earlier this year, the district now includes Washington County communities along with Braintree and Orange in Orange County, and Stowe in Lamoille County.

Candidates scheduled to participate are Republican Paul Matthew Bean from Northfield; Democrat and incumbent Sen. Ann Cummings from Montpelier; Dexter LeFavour, Republican/Libertarian from Middlesex; Sen. Andrew Perchlik, Democrat/Progressive from Marshfield; and Democrat Anne Watson of Montpelier. Republican candidate Dwayne Tucker from Barre Town is not listed on the schedule.

Writer and former teacher, principal and library administrator Tom McKone is moderating.

On Tuesday, Oct. 11, all of the candidates in the four-way race for the Washington-Chittenden House district will be featured at 6 p.m.

The district covers Waterbury, Bolton, Huntington, and Buels Gore. The candidates are Independent William McGorry of Bolton; incumbent state Rep. Thomas Stevens, D-Waterbury; Republican Kathi Tarrant of Waterbury; and state Rep. Theresa A. Wood, D-Waterbury.

The moderator is radio host Linda Radtke, a former English teacher at Harwood Union High School.

The full schedule is listed on the ORCA Media website where there are links to watch live. Also find them broadcast on the ORCA Media channel 1085 on Comcast cable. They will be posted online on ORCA Media’s website and YouTube channel to watch afterward.
