At 11 p.m. Tuesday, Vermont State Police issued an update in the case of missing 71-year-old Pamela Shover of Worcester saying that a body was found in a vehicle on a back road in Worcester.

A hiker notified state police at about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, saying that he had come upon “an apparently deceased woman inside a vehicle on a Class 4 road in the town of Worcester,” police said. Troopers responded to the spot at the end of Hampshire Hill Road and their “preliminary investigation indicates the victim is Pamela Shover, 71, of Worcester.”

Shover’s dog, Buddy, was found alive in the vehicle, police noted. The body was taken to the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to confirm the identity and determine the cause and manner of death, according to the statement.

The death does not appear suspicious, police added, however the investigation remains active. Anyone with relevant information should contact the Berlin barracks at 802-229-9191 or provide an anonymous tip online

Vermont State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 71-year-old woman missing from Worcester last seen more than a week ago.

State police on Friday morning issued a press release saying that Pamela Shover was last seen at her home on Calais Road on June 4 or 5.

Shover suffers from cognitive and mobility issues, police were told. She may be traveling in her white 2021 Kia Sol with the Vermont license plate GFK251 and she may have her small brown dog, “Buddy,” along with her, police said.

Shover’s family reported her missing shortly after noon on Thursday, June 14.

While the disappearance is not considered suspicious, there is concern for Pamela’s welfare, Trooper Mae Murdock said in the release.

Shover is described as approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 130 pounds or less due to recent weight loss, and she has mid-length reddish hair.

Neither her family nor police know in what direction she may have traveled, police said.

Police shared photos of Shover and her dog as well as a likeness of her vehicle. Anyone with information that might help investigators in locating Shover is asked to call Trooper Mae Murdock at the Berlin barracks at 802-229-9191.
