Main Street / Blush Hill Update Aug. 6-13

BLUSH HILL

Pavement milling has been done in preparation for paving of Blush Hill Road and ditches have been cleared. Paving will be scheduled in several weeks, giving areas where culverts were replaced time to compact before new asphalt is put down. Lonesome Trail also will be repaved.

MAIN STREET

After a whirlwind of activity last week, paving is completed on Main Street and affected side streets. Parking is now allowed back on those streets.

Remaining "punch list" items will be addressed the week of Aug. 9 with a few items extending later into the month:

  • Replacing some of the sidewalk concrete sections in Segments 3 and 4 that didn’t cure properly.

  • Parking space line striping.

  • Installation of the five informational kiosks that are expected to be delivered this week; the seven wayfinding signs that work in tandem with the kiosks have been installed.

  • Putting in place bike racks, benches, and trash/recycling containers.

  • Adjusting timing on the new light fixtures on lampposts

  • Completing repairs/replacement of some exterior features to businesses that were dismantled during construction such as the steps and sidewalk at the Reservoir restaurant and Sunflower Salon and brickwork on the facade at Bargain Boutique.

To commemorate the completion of the project a community celebration and ribbon cutting is planned for Friday, August 27, at 5p.m. More details and invitation to the public will follow.

The work schedule is contingent on weather, equipment, supplies and a variety of circumstances. Get more information and sign up for updates at waterburyworks.com. Project contact is Barb Farr at 802-244-4300 or bfarr@waterburyvt.com
