The following fifth- and sixth-grade students from the Harwood Unified Union School District recently took part in the annual UVM Math Fair held online this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Teacher Curtis Taylor from Crossett Brook Middle School works with students each year as an advisor for the Math Fair. He said that students were responsible for creating slideshow presentations on a mathematical topic of their choice. They presented their slideshows virtually to judges from across Vermont. He offered a special congratulations to Rowan Ambler for placing third with his project titled, “Fibonacci Numbers & Sequences.”

The students who took part were: Eireann McDonough, Eliza Whitehair, Maisy Gendemenico, Julia Wulff, Ada Russell, Katie Conyers, Lila Pacholek, Caitlin Geary, Violet Ames, Ellie Magdon, Hazel Rost, Zach Maravetz, Hadley Gilson, James Caforia-Magee, Charlie Reichert, Rowan Ambler, McClaine Martin, Boone Parsons, and Gabe Maravetz. The two other mentors for the math fair were Crossett Brook teachers Kaylie Viens and Erin Dente.
