Career Center seeks Harwood at-large member for its board
March 19, 2025 | By Lisa ScagliottiThe Town Meeting Day election failed to fill an at-large position on the Central Vermont Career Center School Board to be held by someone from the Harwood Unified Union School District.
The Career Center board this week put out a call for interested candidates to apply with a letter of interest. The board will fill the spot by appointment and the new member would serve until next March.
Central Vermont Career Center serves six area high schools including Harwood (the others are Cabot, Montpelier, Spaulding, Twinfield and U-32). Its board has 10 members – six appointed from each school board from the sending districts and four at-large from the largest districts.
Corey Hackett of Waterbury is the Harwood School Board’s appointed representative on the career center board, having been appointed in 2024 and recently re-appointed for another year.
Hackett said he would be glad to speak with anyone considering volunteering for the position. “I've only been on that board for a few months, but have found it to be a great experience getting to learn more about the program,” he said. “The other members and administrative team are passionate about this program and the opportunity for our communities’ students.”
Hackett, who is a project manager with Haward Design Build in Burlington, said it would be ideal to get more tradespeople to join the board.
Applicants must live in one of the Harwood district’s towns (Duxbury, Fayston, Moretown, Waitsfield, Warren or Waterbury). They should send a letter briefly explaining their interest in the board and any pertinent qualifications and experience they might bring to the role.

Candidates will be invited to meet the board for an interview at its April 14 meeting.
