The entire Waterbury Public Library staff and the library commissioners are pleased to announce June 16 as our building reopening date. Further good news – starting June 16, the library returns to pre-COVID hours. We can’t wait to see our many friends and patrons.

New hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday, Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The reopening plan follows Vermont Forward and Safe Gathering regulations and includes the following services and guidelines:

• 30-minute browsing visits.

• 60-minute public computer use; reservations available but not required.

• Mask-wearing, social distancing, and hand-sanitizing will be required.

Study rooms will be available by reservation or walk-in (depending on availability). Room limit of one person, or up to six family members or members of a COVID pod. This will be relaxed after July 4. Work/study tables will be available for use by one person, family members, or COVID pod. The Sal meeting room will be used for some library programs but will not be available for other uses until later this summer.

Programs will gradually transition to in-person and hybrid formats and holds will be available at the Help Desk unless a curbside pickup is requested.

Almy Landauer is director of the Waterbury Public Library.
