After a 2020 hiatus due to the pandemic, the Waterbury-Stowe Fish and Game Club's Annual Kids Fishing Derby returns this Sunday, May 23, starting at 8 a.m.

To manage crowd size, organizers request that families sign up online. If there is a large response, a second time slot will be added for 10 a.m., they said.

The rules for kids are simple: one rod per angler; bait only (no lures); three-fish limit per angler and all must be trout; all fish caught must be kept.

The rules for the parents are even easier: bait hooks; tie and untie knots; exemplify superior sportsmanship.

All participants are expected to follow current state COVID-19 public health guidelines.

Additionally, the event will not involve serving any cooked food this year. Prepackaged snacks and drinks will be available.
