Spring cleaning is a thing and the Waterbury-Stowe Fish & Game Club is planning a group effort on Saturday, May 3.

The cleanup is scheduled for the morning from 8 a.m. to noon.

Organizers say people with all talents are invited to join in to sweep up spend brass, collect litter, do some raking and painting, and more. Loud power tools are welcome, such as chainsaws, leaf blowers and weed wackers, as well as machines like tractors and lifts (for painting and putting up lights).

At noon, work stops for a free and hard-earned lunch made by members. Afterward, those who worked get to play a little bit for free -- a tradition going back some 75 years.

The event is a good opportunity for members to connect and new members to check out the club. “It's a great opportunity to see friends after a long winter, get some fresh air and catch up,” said Kelley Spear, one of the cleanup organizers.

The Waterbury-Stowe Fish & Game Club is located at 5365 Waterbury-Stowe Road in Waterbury Center.
