Once again, the Duxbury community came together to make Green Up Day a success.

More than 60 volunteers spread out covering all main town roads and put in extra effort on some more challenging ones like River Road.

By the disappearance of Green Up bags, it was evident that the response was greater than in past years. The results: 2.64 tons of tires and 1.56 tons of trash were collected.

The Duxbury Land Trust has been coordinating Duxbury’s Green Up Day since 1997. It is grateful for the effort by volunteers and for the support of the Duxbury Selectboard, Town Clerk/Treasurer Maureen Harvey and  Highway Foreman Brian Gibbs. Without their assistance Green Up Day wouldn’t happen. While we can’t list everyone who took part, Jill Smith deserves special recognition for organizing the Crossett Hill volunteers for several years.

Green Up is a great event bringing together diverse members of our town all working toward a common purpose: making Duxbury even more beautiful. Thank you so much to all of the Green Up volunteers for making our event a success once again.

Representing the Duxbury Land Trust, Audrey Quackenbush is Duxbury’s Green Up coordinator.
