Mad River Story Slam seeks storytellers and their tales

March 7, 2024 | By Waterbury Roundabout

Looking ahead to the April calendar, The Valley Players’ pitch line is open to accept stories for the 4th annual Mad River Story Slam.

The event is set for Saturday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Valley Players Theater, 4254 Main Street (Rt. 100) in Waitsfield.

This year’s theme is “Misadventures” and aims to showcase true stories about how things didn't go exactly as planned. Or perhaps your plan was flawed from the start and you followed it nonetheless.

Stories should be well-rehearsed, and delivered without the use of notes or props. While the pitch has a 2-minute time limit, final versions should be between 5 and 8 minutes long.

Two Zoom workshops will be held for those who would like tips on polishing their stories. These workshops have been well-received by storytellers to hone their stories and techniques. Participation is encouraged.

How to get involved? Call The Valley Players pitch line and leave the 2-minute version of your story and then start writing. The number is 802-583-1674; choose mailbox #4 to leave your pitch.

Pitches will be accepted through March 15. Workshops are scheduled for March 20 and another the week of April 1.

Tickets for the performance will be on sale soon. For more information about the event and The Valley Players, go tovalleyplayers.com.
