Gerald LeRoy Marshall, 1930-2025

Gerald LeRoy Marshall, 94, passed away peacefully at the Central Vermont Medical Center on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Born in Waterbury on November 6, 1930, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Alberta (Russell) Marshall. On December 26, 1951, he married Barbara M. Morse in Burlington. Barbara predeceased him on January 18, 2019.

Gerald graduated from Waterbury High School in 1948 and went on to serve his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He was stationed on the island of Guam during the Korean War. He returned to Vermont, graduated from Champlain College with a degree in Law Enforcement, and began a career with the Vermont State Police. In 1979, he and Barbara moved to Duxbury, where he lived until his death. At the age of 50, he retired from the Vermont State Police and went to work for the Vermont Air National Guard in Burlington.

He enjoyed being useful and active, working outside around his home, cutting wood, lawn care, and anything else that needed attention. He and Barbara enjoyed the winters that they spent in Florida.

Gerald is survived by his children: Theresa Richardson and her husband Ken of Durham, North Carolina, Michael Marshall of Duxbury, Timothy Marshall and his companion Carol of West Point, New York, (Highgate, Vermont), Peter Marshall and his wife Donna of Berlin, Paul Marshall and his wife Michelle of Richmond, and David Marshall and his wife Wendi of Duxbury; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; as well as nieces nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by three brothers: Cedric, Russell and John Marshall, his sister Eunice Rochon, and a grandson Brad Marshall.

Services for Gerald will be private and at the convenience of the family.
