Town hiring for reorganized Planning & Zoning Department

July 24, 2021 | By Waterbury Roundabout

After the recent retirement of Waterbury’s zoning administrator, town officials have decided to restructure the planning and zoning staff and are now seeking an assistant administrator for that department.

Instead of one staffer focusing on planning and one on zoning, both positions will work together in what has been described as more of “a team approach.”

Former Zoning Administrator Dina Bookmyer-Baker stepped down in early July and Steve Lotspeich has been named Planning and Zoning Director. The opening now will be for an Assistant Planning and Zoning Administrator.

Both positions will have authority to handle administration and enforcement of town zoning and subdivision bylaws, and both will work on general planning functions.

The assistant administrator will oversee details of floodplain regulations and assist the Development Review Board and Planning Commission.

With an application deadline of Aug. 4, the town is hoping to hire someone as soon as possible for the full-time position. Details on how and where to apply are online at waterburyvt.com. For more information, contact Lotspeich at 244-1012, or email to slotspeich@waterburyvt.com.
