Obituary: Mary Eleanor White

Mary Eleanor White, 87, of Montpelier, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. She was born August 17, 1936, in Montpelier, the daughter of the late Gordon and Bernice (Downing) White.

Mary graduated from Waterbury High School in 1955. In 1959 she married Roger Bogni of Barre; they divorced in 1979. She made her home in Montpelier and became an active member of the Montpelier community. She worked in several local retail businesses over the years.

Mary was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Montpelier, United Methodist Women, and the Montpelier Senior Citizens. Mary volunteered at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, at the Montpelier Senior Center, and at Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling with the Senior Citizens’ bus tours, reading and word puzzles, and she enjoyed the company of her roommate at Woodridge.

Mary is survived by two sisters, Margaret Corriveau of Merrimack, New Hampshire, and Theresa King and her husband James of Waterbury; two brothers, Richard White and his wife Anne of Waterbury Center, and David White and his wife Jane of Barre; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4,  at 11 a.m. at Waterbury Center Community Church, 3585 Waterbury-Stowe Road, Waterbury Center. The burial will be in the White family lot in Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center at a later date.
