The Eleva Chamber Players visit Waterbury and the Mad River Valley Nov. 11-12 with a pair of concerts titled ‘The Baroque Effect’ that will explore the influence of Baroque music through the ages.
Central Vermont’s only professional string chamber orchestra will perform at the Waterbury United Church of Christ Congregational Church (8 N. Main St.) at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Inn at the Round Barn Farm in Waitsfield (1661 East Warren Rd.).
The program features Telemann’s Concerto in F for 3 Violins, Respighi’s Ancient Airs & Dances Suite 3, Vivaldi’s Spring from The Four Seasons, and Holst’s St. Paul's Suite in C Major (Op. 29, No. 2).
“Eleva seeks to answer the question of how Baroque music has lasted for over 400 years,” said Eleva founder Willie Docto. “Its form, rhythms and use of string instruments have influenced composers over the centuries and its popularity continues to grow.”
Docto noted that the afternoon concert times were scheduled based on audience feedback. The Waitsfield performance will also include a pre-concert reception.
Founded in Waterbury, the Eleva Chamber Players have been performing since 2006 with a mission of “elevating the human spirit through music.” The conductorless orchestra is organized using a collaborative process among its professional musicians with distinguished international careers from Vermont and across the United States. Eleva’s concerts combine musicianship and dialogue to be both educational and inspiring.
