Richard Headley. 1937–2024

Richard “Dick” Almeron Headley, 86, of Waterbury, Vermont, passed away on March 2, 2024.

Born April 11, 1937, he was the oldest son of Arthur Almeron and Dorothy Maude (Tillapaugh) Headley, and the proud big brother of David Bernerd Headley.

As the #1 fan of the Boston Red Sox, he watched every game, diligently recorded players’ stats, and fulfilled a lifelong dream of seeing a game at Fenway Park in 2019. He was the longest resident and official greeter of Kirby House, a self-proclaimed retired farmer, a member of the Waterbury Congregational Church, and a regular at The Wayside diner in Montpelier. He loved turkey dinners, enjoyed singing Christmas carols, talking about baseball, and visiting with the locals while walking around town.

Dick is survived by Dave’s wife, Barbara; nieces Linda Sue (Ulman) Maurer of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, and Beth April Brooks of Atlanta, Georgia; cousin Karen (Tillapaugh) Goddard; special friend, Mr. Senning; residents and staff of Kirby House; the members of Waterbury Congregational Church, and many friends.

Remembrance will be part of Sunday services at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, at Waterbury Congregational Church, 8 N. Main St.
