Local hikers interested in a guided nearby hikes — one with a chance to explore newly conserved lands by Duxbury Land Trust — can mark their calendars for two upcoming winter walks.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, the land trust will host a mountain trail snowshoe hike from noon to 2 p.m.
Duxbury Land Trust trustee Jess Engels and Henry Amistadi will lead this expedition along trails that traverse their own land and on land trust-conserved property, pointing out interesting features along the way. The trails are not difficult but could be challenging for beginners.
The group will be limited to 10 participants. Register in advance online at duxburylandtrust.org/events or by contacting Jess: jessicaengels58@gmailcom or 802-244-7133. The group will meet at 493 Mountainview Road by noon. Participants should bring snowshoes. Leaders can provide snowshoes if requested.
The next winter walk is being planned for Saturday, March 15, with land trust trustee Peter Mandych. That will likely take place in South Duxbury and will be on trails suitable for all levels, including beginners.
This post will be updated with details once they are confirmed.
